Michael Pedone, 81, of Honesdale died Sunday evening, March 13, 2016 at his home attended by his loving wife of 48 years, Rev. Alice Pedone and his daughter Kathleen Estes.
Born in Jersey CIty, New Jersey, Michael was the son of Italian immigrants, the late Onofrio and Mary Pedone, nee DeSantis. He served in the United States Air Force in South Africa during the Korean War and was a disabled veteran. He worked in the publishing industry for many years as a color separator and scanner operator. He was an active and devoted member of the Smith Hill United Methodist Church.
Upon retirement Michael gave freely of his time to many organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Wayne County Emergency Food Pantry, Dessin Animal Shelter, and the Society of Saint Andrews. He will be remembered for his love of gardening, cooking, canning, and baking, particularly his home made dog biscuits and home made bread which he lovingly shared with friends and family.
In addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by his children: Joseph Michael of New Jersey and Fred Edison and his wife Bonnie of North Carolina; Lisa Ann II, and Kathleen Julia and her husband Richard, both of New Jersey . Michael is survived by one brother, Vito Pedone of Georgia; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer Lisa, Joseph Jr., Sarah Ann, William Michael, Daniel, Christopher, Nils Pattrick, Janine, Sarah Christine, Vannessa, Gordon Charles, Spencer Earl and Olivia Easton; as well as three great grandchildren: Jordanna, Malachi, and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by a son Jerry Wayne, three brothers: Nicola, Salvatore, and Angelo and three sisters: Frances, Antoinette, and Dorothy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and neighbors.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the Smith Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale.
Interment with military honors will be in the Smith Hill Cemetery.
