Obituary of Charles P. Dennis
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Paul Dennis Jr., 73, of Honesdale, Cherry Ridge Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 15, 2016.
He was born March 2, 1943 in Scranton to the late C. Paul and Lorraine (Woodworth) Dennis.
Chuck attended Honesdale High School and joined the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He belonged to "The Big Red One" which held the motto: "No mission too difficult; no sacrifice too great; duty first!"
He married Linda Lessun, RN, on April 15, 1967. They lived briefly in New York City where Chuck was a manager at Avis Rent-A-Car; he quickly discovered that city life was not for them. The couple returned to the Dennis Dairy Farm, also known as Sunrise Avenue Farm in Cherry Ridge, taking over for his mom and dad.
Charles was a former member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau, Wayne County Farm Extension, DHIA (High Dairy Herd Milk Production). In addition to dairy, he raised sweet corn and angus beef cattle. He was a former member of the Cherry Ridge Planning Commission.
Until recently, Chuck enjoyed Bible Study with Dale Wilcox at Rich and Sue Robbins' home before becoming ill with Parkinson's Disease.
Most of all, he loved when his family came home to the farm to visit. He especially enjoyed walks with his wife up to the woods.
He was very caring and generous to his family and many life-long friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is also survived by his daughters, Kimberly Ann Keesler of Mechanicsburg, and Kristine Dawn Shuller and her husband Benjamin of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Jesse James Keesler and Lucas Benjamin Shuller; a half-sister, Celia Sweet of Birmingham, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 21 at 12:00 Noon in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Dale Wilcox officiating. Following the service at Noon, a memorial luncheon will be held for family and friends at The Wayne Hotel, 1202 North Main Street, Honesdale.
