Obituary of Elizabeth M. Monington

Elizabeth M. Monington, 97, of Bethany died Sunday morning, December 18, 2016 at Bethany Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvan Monington in 2000. Born August 29, 1919 in Damascus, she was the daughter the late Benjamin and Mildred (Bush) Turner. Elizabeth was a member of the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Elizabeth's hobbies included playing dominoes and doing word puzzles. She was wonderful lady who will be missed dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Kerber and her husband Larry of Tyler Hill; two grandchildren: Kyle Kerber and his son Kole, and Beth Kerber and her children Brittany and Clay Taninies; two sisters: Florence Welles of Lookout and Doris Swendsen of Damascus; two sisters-in-law: Pearle Turner of Damascus, and Alice Turner of Honesdale. She was also preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Marion & Martha in 1944; a grandson, Kevin Kerber in 1989, and two brothers, Richard Turner and Sidney Turner. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Damascus Manor United Methodist Church. Friends may visit from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service in the church. Interment will be Wednesday in Hillside Damascus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth's memory to Bethany Village, 150 Noble Lane, Bethany PA, 18431, Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, Route 371 Damascus, PA 18415 and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr. #7, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
