Obituary of Marian E. Gries

Marian E. Gries died September 5, 2017 in the Bonham Nursing Home, Stillwater, Pa. She was married to the late George W. Gries.
Born in Calkins she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie Frazier Sheard. Marian graduated from Damascus High School Class of 1944. Marian and George were married in 1946 and operated the family dairy farm, Maple View, in Milanville. She loved gardening and will be remembered for her strawberry patch. Marian was a lifetime member of the Calkins Union Baptist Church. She was a very faithful blood donor and supported the Damascus Ambulance and the Beach Lake Fire Company. She was also very family oriented and loved her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a caring person who always helped those in need.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Baysore and her husband Thomas of Milton, Pa , Carol E. Gries Sams and her husband Walter of Coram, Long Island; a son, Roger Gries and his wife Mary of Milanville; five grandchildren, Jeremy Gries and his wife Holly, Nathan Gries and his wife Amy, Adam Gries, Emily Ross, and Alex Saul and his wife Michelle; eight great grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Kalah, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Olivia, Colton, and Reagan; a brother, Clinton Sheard and his wife Betty of Honesdale; a sister, Rachel James of Greentown; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother Elwin Sheard; grandson Roger Gries Jr. and a granddaughter- in -law, Stacie O'Connell Gries.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Calkins Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Lane Jones officiating . Friends may visit the church from 10:00-11:00 AM until the time of the service.
Interment will be in the Calkins Union Cemetery.
