Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mike J. Casper, 54 of Honesdale, died at home, surrounded in love on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Survived by his wife Becky (Brill) Casper, they were married at Niagara Falls on February 14, 1995. Born January 14, 1957 in Honesdale he was the son of the late George Casper and is survived by his mother Noreen Casper of Honesdale. Mike was a lover of life, having survived cancer at age 18; Mike knew each day is a gift to be lived to its fullest. Mike was a skilled contractor, very hard working. He used his tremendous talents to make many peoples' dreams a reality through his work. Mike was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildlife and being outdoors. He hunted with his friends, his wife, his stepsons, and had dreams of teaching his grandchildren to hunt and fish. Mike was a family man, he especially enjoyed his role as a grandfather to his young grandchildren, building with blocks and playing games. The grandchildren called Mike "Grampy." Mike was strong and courageous, both in the months of sickness leading up to his death but most importantly in his 54 years of LIFE. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by two step sons, Brandon Flynn of Lakewood and Greg Flynn of Honesdale ; Brandon's wife Sara and their daughter Ana; Greg's wife Dawn and their children Dominick, Lillian, and Mason; his sister, Lori Tolerico and her husband Joe and their two sons, Stephen and Patrick; much loving family and many wonderful friends. Because Mike wanted his friends and family to remember his life, not his death, he requested no funeral services to take place. Instead he desired for his loved ones to celebrate his life at a party that will take place at the family's readiness and convenience. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main St Honesdale, Pa. www.bryantfuneralhome.com The family wishes to thank Dr. Paula Bennett and Pastor Mary Bryant for their tremendous compassion and care during this difficult time. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes Barre, Pa 18702; who provided tremendous comfort to the family near the end of Mike's life.; Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, Pa 18431; because Mike loved animals, dogs in particular.; Arbor Day Foundation, www.arborday.org/memory to have a tree planted in Mike's memory.
