William James West Sr. passed away 7/6/2018 at 8:37pm at Regional Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was one of 7 children born to Arnold Frank West and Loretta Viola Canfield of Honesdale, Pa on November 23, 1949. William married the love of his life Diana Elizabeth West on October 3, 1969. She is the daughter of the late Samuel and Betty Barcola from Carbondale, PA. Surviving siblings are: Doris Bannon, PA, Joseph West, VA, Ruth Dietz, NC, Ken West, PA, Sally Masker, PA, Frank West, PA. William graduated from Honesdale High School and served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years, from 1971 until 1991. During this time he received an outstanding amount of achievement awards and medals for expert marksmanship ,expert rifle and pistol sharpshooter, along with the honorable meritorious mass designation. He was "ALL IN" as he would often say. After serving his country he wanted to serve his community, so he went to work for PA DOT in 2011. He had an abundance of friends he considered family. William was always known for his loyalty and punctuality. In William's younger years he loved to go deer hunting, camping with his family, and be near his wife and children: Donna Marie West Cuomo (FL), William James West Jr. (PA), and Samuel Joseph West (PA). William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to Randal S. Gager Jr, Brian Keith Becker Jr, Autumn West, Lee West, Zachary West, Sebastian West, Carissa West, Madison West & Great Grandfather to Donovan Jordon and his newest addition Vivianna Rose Gager. Memorial services will be held at: Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa 18431 Time: 9:00 AM Date: July 20, 2018. Bill's favorite flower colors are red, white, and blue. Burial services will be held at: Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, Pa 17003 Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM A private intimate invitation (only) celebration of life will be held for William's nearest and dearest that were closest to his wife and his children throughout his life. Details will be on the invites.
