Obituary of June M. Doney

Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June Mignerey Doney passed away August 13, 2018 at the home of her daughter's, Denise. June was born June 22, 1933 to Albert and Maxine Cooper Mignerey. She was married to the late William W. Doney for more than 60 years. June grew up on a farm on Beech Grove Road. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents in Lake Ariel. She learned her work ethics from working on the farm; being the oldest of three, her father depended on her to do a lot. June went to school to 4th grade at the one room school house which was located near the Beech Grove Grange. She graduated from Honesdale High in 1951 and continued her education at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. She commented different times that Dr. Harry Propst was an intern there at the same time she was there. June stayed at Robert Packer Hospital only 2 years. William, the love of her life, came home after being in Korea and while he was home, asked June to marry him before he had to return to Louisiana in a few days. She said yes, and left Robert Packer Hospital for Louisiana. There were stories of a borrowed car and only a few dollars to take them all the way to Louisiana; but they were in love, and a dollar went a lot further than it does now. June worked at Peck's Nursing Home, a nursing home in Quakertown, the State Home Health visiting nurses as an LPN, many private duty jobs, the head Trauma Unit in Milford, Pa, and Ellen Memorial Nursing Home. June traveled to Mississippi and helped with the clean up after Hurricane Katrina. After retiring, William and June traveled across the country camping for 6 weeks. June is survived by her daughter, Denise Sprague and her husband Gary of Honesdale; grandsons, Robert Doney of Gouldsboro, Michael Sprague and his wife Ariana and children Evan & Alyssa Sprague; granddaughters Lori Yankauskas and children Logan & William, Colleen Branning and her husband Phillip, and their children Luke, Paige, Jacob, Danielle Adolfson and her husband Daniel (Moose), and their children Joshua & Mckayla; one sister, Jeannean Ross of Romoona, CA; one brother, Albert (Bud) Mignerey and his wife Joanne; a daughter in law, April Doney; and many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by infant twins, Pamela Jo and Albert George; grandson, Gregory Michael Doney; husband, William Doney; and son, William Lee Doney. June's family wishes to express their gratitude for the Wayne Memorial Hospice team...your love and compassion made her feel like a queen and she was in good hands while you took care of her. Especially sharing your life stories and always giving us something to laugh about. She also loved being reconnected to the nurses she had worked with over the years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Bethany. Friends may visit the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Because of inclement weather, graveside services will be held in the Glass Factory Cemetery at the convenience of the family. www.BryantFuneralHome.com
