Paul Schott age 83 of Ararat, Pa entered eternal rest on Sunday evening, September 2, 218 at Regional Hospital in Scranton, Pa following a courageous battle with heart disease. Born June 30, 1935 in Archbald, Pa, one of the 18 children, son of the late John Sr. and Olga Dorash Schott. He attended South Canaan Elementary School and quit school after one year at Waymart High School. Paul worked at Hussco Shoe Co. for a short time. He enlisted in the US Air Force on August 9, 1956. Paul served his country faithfully for 22 years, received an honorable discharge, and retirement in March 1978. He received many awards and honors for meritorious services having completed assignments throughout the United States and numerous foreign countries. His rank was Master Sergeant. May 21, 1960 Paul married Eugenia A. Schuren from Nutley, NJ. They were blessed with three sons. Following the military life they settled in Ararat, Pa where Paul and his sons built a log cabin home. Paul worked for 20 years for the Ararat Township. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, and enjoying the beauty of nature. He attributed growing up in a large family taught him to accept responsibility, be industrious, and learn financial responsibility early in life. Paul served his country with honor, respect, and pride. A lifelong American Legion member taught him to be concerned about the well being of fellow veterans. His life exuded the characteristics of selflessness and placing others needs before his own. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle , and a true friend to never be forgotten. Paul was a congregant at St. James Church in Pleasant Mount, Pa He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Schott; three sons, Charles Schott, John Schott, and Paul David Schott; siblings, Joseph Schott and his wife Anne of Seelyville, Larry Schott of Seelyville, Patrick Schott of Gulfport, MS, William Schott and his wife Mary of Gulfport, TX, Olga Williams of Mountain Top, Pa, Nancy Piercy and her husband George of Seelyville, Barbara Cavage and her husband Andrew of Waymart; brother in law, Robert Schuren and his wife Connie of NJ; sister in law Janet Schuren of Mosheim, Pa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by siblings: 3 infant brothers, 2 infant sisters, John Schott Jr and wife Teresa of Archbald, Pa, Donald Schott of Waymart, Margaeret Jula and husband Michael of Illinois, Gabriel Eldred and husband Clayton of Honesdale, and Elizabeth Roberts and husband Nelson of Honesdale; brother in law, Henry Schuren of NJ The family extends thanks to the staff at Regional Hospital, Doctors Pancholy, Patel and associates, the entire staff at Barnes-Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility in Susquehanna, Pa and friends and family for their compassion and comforting care during his illness. As per Paul's request he was cremated. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa. with Deacon Robert Warnock officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Private burial in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners will follow at a later date.
