Obituary of Lorraine I. Carney

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorraine Isabelle Carney, 86, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend was called home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2018 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home. Lorraine was born on March 19, 1932 to the late Helen (Spry) and Arthur DeGroat in White Mills. She attended school at White Mills, the Bethel School, Beach Lake and Wayne Commercial School. She was a seamstress at Katz Factory and a cook at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She married the love of her life Donald Cecil Carney on October 27, 1951 at the Bethany United Methodist Church. At the age of 19 the two began their journey together, living an exceptional life. Lorraine loved the Lord and her family. Lorraine cherished time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She valued her family and raised a legacy of children that will forever remember the woman that loved them all so tenderly. Her hands were rarely still if not making afghans, embroidering pillowcases and dresser scarves, she was tending to flowers, picking berries, canning applesauce, cooking soups, baking sweets, cutting paper dolls, and sipping hot tea. Her life was a living example of a woman's dedication to her family. Lorraine's hopes were that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren "try to see the good in everyone." She will be deeply missed. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald C. Carney; 8 children, Constance Beck, Debra Buppelmann, Diane Fonner, Jeanne Snyder, Gayle Henshaw, Donald Carney, Dennis Carney, and Lorrie Zeiler; a brother, Byron DeGroat; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon DeGroat. Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday October 11, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main St Honesdale, Pa . A memorial service will be held on Friday October 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Cortez United Methodist Church, 967 Cortez Road Lake Ariel, Pa 18436 with the Rev. Art Yetter officiating.
