Obituary of William E Dennis

William E. "Sonny" Dennis, 73, of Honesdale, Damascus Township, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at home. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, the former Ellen B. Yakaboski. They were married on March 30, 1963. Born on January 28, 1939 in Smith Hill, he was the son of the late Asa N. Dennis and Geraldine Gilbert Dennis. After High School in Damascus, Sonny served in the United States Navy. He owned and operated the family dairy farm where he thoroughly enjoyed the crops and land. Devoted to agriculture, Sonny was fond of John Deere tractors and the rural farm lifestyle in which he and his wife raised their family. In the late 1960's, Sonny was acknowledged as the Wayne County Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. He will be remembered as a kind, hard working, and good hearted man, willing to help anyone in need. His family was very dear to him; he especially loved his granddaughter, Maddie. He is also survived by three children: Timothy E. Dennis of Jeffersonville, NY and his companion, Lisa Edwards, Ted W. Dennis and his wife, Lisa of Coudersport, PA; and Julie Ludwig and her husband Bill of Bethany; a granddaughter, Maddie Dennis; and a brother, Charles A. Dennis. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Krol. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Rev. William Rushik officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
