Orvetta (Midge) Rose (Skinner) Stevenson, 98, formerly of Equinunk, died on August 4, 2020 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center where she had been residing since 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stevenson, on September 4, 2006. The couple married on October 19, 1943. Born on December 4, 1921 at the family home on Fork Mountain, Pine Mill, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the late George and Lillie (Baldwin) Skinner family. Midge attended the South Branch School near Equinunk. Over the years Midge was a caregiver for many family members. She enjoyed gardening, baking, watching birds at her feeders, as well as sewing and needlework. Midge was a member of the Cold Spring Rileyville Presbyterian Church, and also active in the Equinunk Methodist Church for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Equinunk Historical Society. Midge was preceded in death by her brothers and sister: Audrey Brown, Orvin, Cecil, Kenneth, Clyde, Lee, and Glenn Skinner. She is survived by a nephew, Stuart Skinner, nieces Joyce Skinner and Audrey Hessling, Honesdale and many other nieces and nephews. Although she never had any children of her own, she cared for Sandra Jessup August and John Jessup when they were young, and they were like family to her. The family would like to offer special thanks to Ellen Memorial for all of their care and kindness provided over the past several years. A private service and burial will take place in Pine Mill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Equinunk Historical Society or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street, Honesdale.
