James C. Tiel, 68 of Honesdale, PA, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was married to the former Sarah Bloomgarden. Born in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Clarence and Rita Swingle Tiel. Jim was in the United Sates Navy where he served aboard the destroyer USS Domato. He later worked in the fields of excavation and landscaping. Jim enjoyed fly fishing, ice fishing, and hunting. Later in life he enjoyed painting, modeling, drawing, and woodworking. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Seth Tiel and his wife Alissa of Honesdale; a daughter, Robin Tiel of Honesdale; several grandchildren,Sephora VanOrden, Charles VanOrden Jr, Richard Groo III, Summer Johnson, Eric Johnson and a granddog, Tasco. He was preceded in death by a son Adam Tiel and a sister Florence Graebner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Temple Beth Israel, Court and 7th Street, Honesdale, Pa with Rabbi Allen Smith officiating. Friends may visit the temple at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Honesdale. The family wishes to thank Wayne Memorial Hospice for their compassion and support throughout this difficult time. Their dedication to his comfort and well being was second to none.
