James Paul Florance passed away February 17, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre. He was married to Deirdre Quinn Florance. James was born in Queens, NY the son of the late Arthur and Helga Beuershausen Florance. He graduated from Manhattan High School of Art and Design. For years James owned and operated a tow truck service in Queens and later operated a formal wear rental business. He moved to Honesdale in 1996 and for many years he was a manufacturer of rope tension drums. James was a very active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and he and his wife co- directed the Maple City Ancient Fife and Drum Corps. James enjoyed attending and participating in Revolutionary and Civil War Reenactments. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, James Florance Jr. and his wife Cassie of Narrowsburg, NY; a daughter, Kinberly Florance of Honesdale. He was preceded in death by a brother Peter Florance; a nephew, Josh Florance; a granddaughter, Maisie Florance. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale with the Rev. Adam Reinhardt officiating. Friends may visit the church from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Due to Covid 19 restrictions social distancing and masks will be required. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home.
