Allan H. Heller, 74, of Honesdale died on Wednesday, March 10 at Allied Hospice after an illness. He was born on December 18, 1946, and was the son of the late Russell and Sarah Heller. He was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, class of 1964. Allan attended East Stroudsburg University where he received his degree in Physical Education. He was a huge Warrior fan. He attended many basketball and football games right until the end. Allan began his teaching career in New Jersey. He lived in Washington, New Jersey and taught at the Brass Castle and Port Colden Schools. He taught for 32 years. Among his many jobs were coaching boys' and girls' soccer, head coach for boys' basketball, and as an assistant coach for the girls' team at Warren High Regional High School. In addition, he also coached soccer, basketball, and softball for the Washington Township Youth Association. He was a baseball pitcher as a youth and throughout college. He loved baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was well known in the Wayne County area for his pitching ability, and was inducted into the Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame. His love for sports and teaching was apparent in everything he did. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Lathrop and her husband Robert, of Honesdale, with whom he resided for the past 16 years. He is also survived by two nieces, Sarah Zepeda (Roger), Maryland and Cathleen Rivera (Travis), Honesdale, as well as his great niece, Adalynn Rivera. There will be no service as per Allan's request. The family will have a private interment. The family suggests that you safely meet with other friends of Allan in a small group to share your memories. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A.
