Obituary of Robert E. Igel

Robert C. Igel a resident at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021. He is survived by his wife Lillian Dornow Igel. Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Ludwig and Johanna Hof Igel. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1954 and began his baking career after graduation. He and Lillian married in 1959 and first settled in Valley Stream, Long Island. Later they lived in Holbrook, Long Island, and in 2014 he retired and they moved to Wilkes Barre. Robert enjoyed fishing with his children and was active as a Scoutmaster. He was an avid bowler. In addition to his wife Robert is survived by two children, Christopher Igel and his wife Kim of Lords Valley and Andrew Igel and his wife Karen of Michigan; six grandchildren, Tyler Ferrari, Jasmine Igel, Christopher Igel, Lucas Igel, Austin Igel, and Alex Igel. Robert was proceeded in death by a brother Charles Igel who was lost in the Korean War. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 5:00 pm in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Due to covid -19 visitants we be asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.
