Obituary of Olga D. Herrnkind

Olga D. Herrnkind, 97, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, Pa.
Born January 14, 1915 in Hamburg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Olga Dahlgren Behrens. Olga came to the United States with her parents and older sister in September of 1923, when she was 8 years old.
She was married in January 1933 to Karl W. L. Herrnkind and had celebrated 58 years of marriage when he passed away in May 1991. She was also predeceased in death by her sister, Greta Wendelen in 2008, daughter Virginia Herrnkind Dillemuth Pfund in August 1997 and two great-granddaughters in July 1980.
A homemaker all her adult life, Olga loved God, her family, her friends and her church. A long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, she attended every service and special event for as long as she could, in later years walking from her apartment. She spent many hours with her friends in the Needles for Needs group, sewing for others.
Olga is survived by sons Karl and wife Pat of Hertford, NC and Frank and wife Elaine of Palm Bay, FL. Also surviving are grandchildren Karen Herrnkind Blackwell of Lakeland, FL, Christian and wife Michelle of Merritt Island, FL, Frankie and wife Carolyn, Nicole Herrnkind and Rudy Tuten, all of Palm Bay, FL, Karl and wife Carla of East Islip, NY, Donna Herrnkind and Billy Tromeley of Woodstown, NJ ,Sheila Dillemuth Brown and husband Charlie of Honesdale, Sharon Dillemuth Grandstrom and husband Jay of Womelsdorf, Pa and Kay Dillemuth Marks and husband Jim of Honesdale; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great -grandchildren; nieces, Sonja Linaberry of Franklin, NY and Ingrid Oakley of Corning, NY and several great-nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 7th and Church Street, Honesdale, Pa. Friends may visit prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM.on Tuesday. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa
