ETHAN BENJAMIN SCULL, 91 OF BEACH LAKE PA, PASSED AWAY ON MAY 2ND AT WAYNE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE JOYCE WHO PASSED AWAY MARCH 29TH, 1980.
ETHAN WAS BORN FEBRUARY 15TH, 1930 TO CHARLES AND VIOLA (RUST) SCULL OF HONESDALE, PA.
AFTER COMPLETING SCHOOL, ETHAN ENLISTED IN THE ARMY AND SERVED IN THE KOREAN WAR.
UPON RETURNING HOME FROM THE ARMY, ETHAN MET AND FELL IN LOVE WITH JOYCE GREGORY OF BEACH LAKE PA. ETHAN WORKED AT CONNOR'S GROCERY STORE ON MAIN STREET IN HONESDALE, WHEN HE SPOTTED JOYCE WALKING DOWN THE STREET FROM HER JOB AT HONESDALE TV. AFTER QUIETLY FINDING OUT WHO SHE WAS WELL, LET'S JUST SAY THE REST IS HISTORY.
ETHAN AND JOYCE WERE MARRIED AUGUST 7TH, 1955. ETHAN MOVED TO BEACH LAKE WHERE HE STILL HELD A RESIDENCE.
ETHAN WAS EMPLOYED BY PECK'S MARKET AS A BUTCHER UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT IN 1995. HE STILL WORKED AT PECK'S MARKET PART TIME UP UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO.
ETHAN IS SURVIVED BY HIS SON'S LARRY (DAWN) SCULL OF INVERNESS, FL. TERRY SCULL OF BEACH LAKE PA. BRIAN (CINDY) SCULL OF COOPERSVILLE, MI., AND DAUGHTER ELLEN (RICHARD) SCULL-SMITH OF BEACH LAKE PA. GRANDCHILDREN INCLUDE DAN (SARA) SCULL OF MARYLAND, JOE SCULL OF FL. AMBER SCULL OF FL, ADAM SCULL OF FL, LACEY SMITH OF NEWFOUNDLAND, PA AND ZOEY SMITH OF TAFTON, PA. GREAT-GRAND CHILDREN INCLUDE KYLE, ETHAN AND ELANE SCULL OF FL., LIZZY AND CALEB SCULL OF MARYLAND, KAHLISI AND NYA SMITH OF PA.
ETHAN IS ALSO SURVIVED BY A SISTER HELEN (SCULL) GARRITY OF HONESDALE PA, NEPHEWS DAVID GARRITY OF PLEASANT MT, PA AND MICHAEL GARRITY OF NEW YORK, NY.
ETHAN WAS A MEMBER OF THE BEACH LAKE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SINCE 1955. HE WAS ALSO AN AVID BASEBALL FAN WITH THE NEW YORK METS AS HIS FAVORITE TEAM.
OTHER HOBBIES INCLUDE SPENDING TIME WITH HIS FAMILY, GOING FOR ICE CREAM, DOING PUZZLES, JAZZ AND BIG BAND MUSIC, READING, ATTENDING SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS AND PLAYING A GAME OF "SEA MONSTER" WITH KAHLISI AND NYA. HE ALSO LOVED 'SPAGHETTI' WESTERNS, OLD RADIO SHOWS, CORNY JOKES AND BAD PUNS. HE WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. HE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED AND HIS SMILE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
A SERVICE FOR ETHAN WILL BE HELD MAY 22ND AT 1 PM, INDIAN ORCHARD CEMETERY.
IN LEIU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS CAN BE MADE IN ETHAN'S NAME TO TUSTEN VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE SERVICE AT 6509 STATE ROUTE 97 NARROWSBURG NEW YORK, 12764.
