Glenn Leman Eldred, 79, Honesdale, PA, went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 4, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Glenn was born in Damascus, PA, on February 28, 1942, to Gertrude ("Gertie") Mae (Sprague) and John F. Eldred. He graduated from Damascus High School in 1960, was medically discharged from the Air Force, and spent much of his life "driving truck" for various long-distance and regional companies before retiring as a driver for John Bonham Road Equipment and Supplies. Glenn married Joyce Marillda Woods on July 30, 1966. Joyce was an RN in the ICU at Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. The two were married for 55 years. Glenn was a member of First Baptist Church of Damascus where he taught Sunday school for many years and helped start the Challengers group for teen boys. Preceded in death by his parents, Glenn is survived by his wife Joyce, his children: Charlie and Denise Eldred (Hayward, CA), Leroy and Julia Eldred (Greenville, SC), Chris Eldred (Honesdale), Andrea Eldred (Honesdale), Jay and Krystal Eldred (New Bern, NC); his grandchildren: Charles Eldred (Hayward, CA), Andrew and Kristen Eldred (Ankeney, IA). Glenn is also survived by his brother: John (Barb) Eldred (Port Crane, NY), and sister Faye (Ray) Runkle (Mohrsville, PA) and many nieces and nephews. With the help of Bryant's Funeral Home, a visitation from 1-3 PM with a service immediately following will be held at The First Baptist Church of Damascus, PA on Saturday, October 9, 2021, the Reverend John Highhouse officiating. As per Glenn's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Damascus "Missions Special Project Fund" in Glenn's memory at 1678 River Road, Damascus, PA 18415.
