Nina D. Martin Nina died on 3/21/2022 in her daughter's home with her family at her side. Daughter of Otto and Pearl Monington Douglass, she was born at home on November 19, 1926, in Tanners Falls, PA. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Zeglen and son in law Barry, granddaughter Natalie Zeglen and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Nina graduated from Honesdale High School. She helped in her father's general store in Bethany PA as a young girl before later working at the Red Cross office in Honesdale, The Wayne Independent, and Erks Hardware. She worked at Kretchmer's Gift Shop for over 50 years, where she loved interacting with customers. She was always active and involved in her community. Nina was the corresponding secretary of the Elk Lake Development Association since its inception. She was secretary of the Bethany Cemetery Association and Secretary of Bethany Boro for 50 years. Nina was secretary of the Wayne County Fair for close to 60 years, thriving on every minute of the long fair week days, staying morning to night even the last few years. Nina was always active in her church, Bethany United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees. She participated in church dinners and fundraisers, taking charge of dinners after her dear friend Shirley Reed could no longer do it. Nina also headed a group of ladies who made sleeping bags for the homeless and participated as worship assistant. Nina loved her family and especially loved gatherings at the family cottageat Elk Lake where she spent many happy days from childhood to the present day. Nina was happiest when she was busy and surrounded by family and friends, and always had a smile at the ready. She was preceded in death by her son Lawrence and her husband Gerald. Brothers Ronald and sister in law Mary, Kenneth and sister inlaw Eleanor. Nephew William Douglass and niece Bonnie Moyer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on April 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Bethany United Methodist Church, Bethany. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main St Honesdale, Pa.
