Rudy Robert Schemitz (55) passed away unexpectedly on March 16th, 2022 from a heart attack. Rudy was born on December 24th, 1966 in Queens, NY to parents Rudolf and Maria Schemitz. He was the husband of Francine (Gilson) Schemitz. After relocating to the area, Rudy graduated from Honesdale High School and went on to take over the family woodworking business. In his adult life, he continued to grow the family business into what is now known as New Wave Woodworking, a cutting edge frame manufacturer. Rudy will also be remembered as a compassionate visionary in the Honesdale community; a member of The Honesdale Lion's Club, Beach Lake Fire Company, Welcome Lake Fire Company, and Former Welcome Lake Dive & Rescue team. Rudy is survived by his wife Francine and children Tiffany (Frank) Dzwieleski, Destiny Schemitz (Michael Montambault) and Russell J. Schemitz. He is survived by sisters Anna Vlacich (Gerry) and Linda Pontosky (Don). He will also be deeply missed by beloved nephews, nieces, great-nephews/nieces, and cousins. Rudy was predeceased in death by parents Rudolf and Maria Schemitz, and niece Tara Ann Pontosky. Rudy's legacy is one of integrity and ingenuity, as well as a lifetime of accomplishing the impossible. To continue his impact, a scholarship has been set up in his honor. Donations can be sent to Legacy Of Rudy Schemitz Scholarship Fund, PO Box 305, White Mills, PA 18473. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale.
