Obituary of Yong Hui Figura

Yong Hui Figura, age 65 from Bethany, Pennsylvania left us peacefully on the morning of Friday, November 25th 2022. Yong battled with full determination against breast cancer for over 5 years. She was known to many as wonder woman for her fight and drive to beat metastatic breast cancer but she will truly be remembered as Mama Yong by most because she radiated love, selflessness, and endearment. She was born in Pusan, South Korea on November 7, 1957. She was the daughter of Yim,ManDok and Park, DaeSon and one of five sisters. Growing up she excelled in school and sports. She met her future husband while working on the US army base in Korea. She married her soul mate Mark Figura November 5, 1980. After spending many years traveling to different countries they settled back to Honesdale, PA. She spent a long career in the kitchen of Woodloch Pines before her retirement in 2018. To know Yong was to know tenacity. Long before her battle with breast cancer, she was always a strong, independent, fighter. She made it clear from the beginning that she would only marry her husband if she could work. She was the epitome of a hard worker and loved her family more than anything. No one ever went hungry when Yong was around. She always made sure there was plenty of food not only to go around, but to take home as well. Her grandchildren were everything to her and she loved them fiercely. She had a special bond with them that will be sorely missed. Her love was contagious and her smile lit up a room. She was an angel disguised as a mother, wife, sister, and halmoni. Yong is survived by her sisters Sam Ambrose, Myong VanOrder, Jennifer Dikkers, HyongSil Kwon, son Alan Figura and wife Zena Figura. Daughter Nikki Smith and husband Mike Smith. Grandchildren Raelyn and Parker Smith and Zoe Figura. She is predeceased by her parents and husband. Before her passing, Yong requested that her service be kept private for family only Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, Pa..
