Audrey Della Keesler Schmitt went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 surrounded by family. Audrey was born on January 10, 1935 to the late Lawrence and Beryl Monington Keesler of Galilee, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late William A. Schmitt for 66 years before his passing in November of 2020. Audrey was a member of the Damascus High School class of 1952. Audrey is survived by her loving children, William Jr & Christine Schmitt, Tucson, AZ; Eileen & Tom McDonnell, Lake Ariel, PA; Brenda & Father David Smith, Beavertown, PA; Mark & Brenda Schmitt, Honesdale, PA; and daughter-in-law Heather Schmitt, Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Angela (Jet) Britton, Amy Black, Timothy (Adrienne) Schmitt, Shannon (Kevin) Edsall, Burgandy Burleson Romero, Joshua Smith, Benjamin (Jess) Schmitt, Christopher Burleson, Emily Schmitt, Stephen (Caitlin) Schmitt, Kaleb Smith, Patrick (Jessica) Schmitt, Rachael Smith, Ashley Schmitt and Connor Schmitt, as well as, numerous great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by several dear friends who she has cherished for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was predeceased by her son, Douglas Schmitt, grandsons Kirk and Ryan Schmitt, daughter-in-law Hilda (Neidt) Schmitt, brothers Alden & Dean Keesler; sister June Marzani; and sister and brothers-in-law, Marion and John Barnes and Alfred Schmitt. Audrey was a devout Christian whose love for the Lord was evident in her service to others for most of her adult life. She was a member of the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church where she served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, board member, communion coordinator and many other things throughout the years. Audrey was best known for her love of children as provider of home care for several children and later Preschool teacher at Beach Lake United Methodist Church Preschool. She was also remembered as the manager of The Shoe Fair, Honesdale and cook and waitress at The Beach Lake Diner. Audrey was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be sadly missed by both her family and large circle of friends. Audrey's family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses who have cared for her over the past few weeks at both Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale and Geisinger CMC in Scranton. A special thank you to Dr. Paula Bennett who has lovingly cared for Audrey for many, many years. Arrangements are being made by Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale. A viewing will be held at the Arthur Bryant Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Funeral will be held at the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, Beach Lake, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Audrey has requested that donations be made to Beach Lake Free Methodist Church; 107 Milanville Rd, Beach Lake, PA 18405, Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431 or The Wayne County Public Library, 1406 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
