Arlene R. Hiller Seig, 93, of Seelyville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 16, 2022. Arlene was born on 8/24/29 and raised in Seelyville, the daughter of Franklin and Florence Piercy. Arlene graduated from Honesdale High School in 1947. She worked in Laura Jayne sewing factory for many years and direct sales for Tupperware and Home Interiors. Arlene was dedicated to her faith and an active member of the Seelyville Union Sunday School until its closure. She then attended the United Methodist Church in Honesdale and a small bible study group. Arlene was an active member of her community. She was a member of the Seelyville Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered many hours raising money and baking to assist the volunteer firemen. She also volunteered many hours sewing quilts for the shut-ins and homeless with the Sunbeam Willing Workers of Seelyville. Arlene loved the outdoors. She could often be found along the pond or a river spending countless hours fishing or in the woods during hunting season. Her passions included a love for making quilts and crafts. Arlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children Donna Spencer, Sally (Bob) Shiels, Don (Liza) Hiller, and James (Lori) Hiller; step-children Marie (Matt) Sowinski and Louis (Gayle) Seig; grandchildren Butch (Joni) Stark, Ron Stark, Jessica Roberts, Heather (Jeffrey) Tomazic, Kristopher (Breanne) Hiller, Robert Shiels, Christine Shiels, Daniel (Heather) Hiller, Ryan (Brittney) Hiller, Cody (Ramona) Sowinski, Jeremy Seig, and Jamie (John) Barr; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sibling George (Nancy) Piercy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Donald Hiller and Louis Seig; siblings Leonard Michael (Betty) Piercy, Frank (Lillian) Piercy, and Mary (Bill) Schutt; grandsons Jerry Spencer and Jeremy Hiller. Services and committal service will be held on: Thursday December 22, 2022 at 2 PM at Arthur Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Following the services, refreshments will be served at the Seelyville Fire Hall, Bridge Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 immediately following the services. Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 21 from 4-7 PM at Arthur Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. In lieu if flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jeremy J Hiller Scholarship c/o Honesdale National Bank, 733 Main St., Honesdale, PA 18431 or Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, P.O. Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187.
