Obituary of Robert L. Dillemuth

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Robert L. Dillemuth passed peacefully from this life on January 26, 2023. Born on August 31, 1932 to David A. Dillemuth and Helen M. (Kellam) Dillemuth, his was a life well-lived. From being an over the road trucker(working a number of years for Corner's Garage)to owning two bars, he finally landed at the job where he spent over 32 years, driving bus for Avery Transportation. He hauled schools, camps, and tour groups many thousands of safe miles all over the eastern US. He was the best! He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 50 years and a member of AAA from the time his dad signed him up at the age of 16 when he started driving. Many of his friends knew him as "Thunder" or "Dilly". He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and a crack shot, passing many of those skills to his grandsons. Most of all, he dearly loved his family and enjoyed our summer picnics and holiday gatherings. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathryn "Katie"(Bergmann)Dillemuth, daughters Kay Marks, Sheila Brown and husband Charlie, Sharon Grandstrom and husband Jay, stepson Steven Bergmann and wife Renee, grandchildren Christopher Marks and fiancee Shawna Cassidy, Holly Marks and fiancee Randy Lopez, Seth Marks and wife Jennifer, Deanna Vanderwell and significant other Eric Florance, Erica(Vanderwell)Murray and husband Brad, Michael Bodick and wife Sonya, Meica(Bodick)Drake and husband Dan, and Danielle Bergmann and husband Callum Gouveia Da Silva as well as eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia (Herrnkind), son-in-law James Marks, and infant twin granddaughters Jessica and Casey Bodick. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Aventura Creekside in Carbondale for the excellent care and compassion they showed for our Dad during the time he was there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aventura Creekside, 45 N Scott Street, Carbondale, PA 18407 or to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431. Funeral arrangements will be by Bryant Funeral Home. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023 with the service at 1:00. Intenment will be in Girdland Cemetery at the convenience of the family,
