Dorothy Anna (Hetticher) Utegg, of Hawley died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was married to the late John F. Utegg who died June 2, 2005. Born on September 13, 1928 in St. Albans, New York, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Caroline Haas Hetticher. Dorothy graduated Honesdale High School class of 1946. Dorothy worked for the former Katz Department Store, the former White Mills Handle Company, the former Newmans Women's Store, and the former Katz Underwear Company Office. She retired after 22 years from Woodloch Pines Resort in 2012. Dorothy was a Past Matron and Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star the Laurel Chapter, Waymart. She was a dedicated member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale where she coordinated the altar flowers and served on the property committee. Dorothy served as a communion assistant and lector and recently joined Needles for Needs organization. She and her late husband John traveled to Hawaii and Bermuda, out West and from Maine to Florida. Dorothy enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, working with plastic canvas, reading, gardening, and playing cards at the Senior Center. Her roses were her pride and joy. She is survived by two daughters: Laurie Bishop of Lakeville and Linda Tonetti and her husband Peter of Swamp Brook Road, Hawley; grandchildren: Michael Bishop, serving in the United Sates Air Force stationed in Tucson, AZ, Colten Laabs and Sydney Laabs of Swamp Brook Road, Hawley; a brother, Roland Hetticher residing in Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart; several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday April 26, 2012 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale with Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter officiating. Friends may visit on Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted prior to the funeral service, also at the church. Interment will be in the Indian Orchard Cemetery. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
