Doris Gilbert Seeley Obituary On February 7th, 2023, Doris Gilbert Seeley passed away peacefully at the home of her eldest daughter and son-in-law, Cleone and Bucky Fritz, where she had currently resided. Doris was a loving, kind, thoughtful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Born on October 4th, 1925, Doris Veronica Simmons was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Simmons. Her siblings included her sisters Virginia (Robert) Sweezy, deceased, June (Franklin) Bebensee, deceased, Elaine (Ralph) Box, deceased, brothers Franklin, deceased, and James Simmons who resides in North Carolina with son James and his family. Doris was married to the late Charles S. Gilbert in 1945, and they began their beautiful journey together that would include 4 sons and 4 daughters. After the death of her husband Charlie, Doris was later re-married to Roland Seeley until his passing in 1993. Her beloved children are as follows: Cleone (Bucky) Fritz, Charles E. Gilbert, deceased, Wayne Gilbert, deceased, Richard (Stephanie) Gilbert, Colleen (Steven) Gustwiller, LouAnn Molling, deceased, son-in-law Philip Molling, Gary (Nancy) Gilbert and JoAnn (Rich) Neugebauer. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Mark (Brenda, deceased) Fritz, Kevin (Christie) Fritz, Timothy (Christine) Fritz, Kendra (Carlo) Angione, Robyn Gilbert, Christopher Gilbert, Lacy Gilbert, Jason (Ingrid) Gilbert, Dawn (James) Hass, Michelle (Parfait) Karekezi, Ryan Miller, Erin and Moriah Molling, LeaAnn (Stephen) Mackle, Travis (Lisa) Gilbert, Cody Gilbert, Jennifer (Matthew) Brown, and Megan (Ben) Somers. She was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends. After selling her home in Beach Lake, Doris resided at the Stourbridge apartments in Honesdale until the age of 95 and made many good friends while there. She loved being outside in the sunshine and enjoyed her walks and concerts in Central Park, or just walking over town to have lunch with friends and family. Quite often on a Saturday, you could find mom sitting in a chair at Visible Changes while her favorite stylist, Kathy, made her look pretty. Mom always thought it was very important to always try to look her best, and she did. She also always spoke her mind with no regrets and no sugar coating. And even though at times she was a bit "short on the sugar," she always meant well with her words of wisdom. And wisdom she had much. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, her word search books, watching the 700 Club, and most importantly, she loved spending time reading her Bible and her talks with God. Proverbs 3:5 was her favorite scripture which read: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding, seek His will in all you do and he will make your paths straight." She was a beautiful Christian lady who endured many hardships in her life but remained strong through it all. Her steadfast faith, her trust in our Lord Jesus, her devout prayer life, and her love and commitment to her family are all a wonderful testimony to a life and legacy that she has handed down to her family, and to all who knew her. She modeled a life well lived and will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. God bless and thank you for your unconditional love Mom. A private memorial will be held at a later date for her family as per her wishes. Our entire family would like thank all of the hospice nurses, along with her home health caregiver, Cassandra. Words cannot express how grateful we are for their wonderful tender loving care and professionalism that was shown to our mom in her final days. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, Pa.
