Virginia married her sweetheart, Arnold, on October 12, 1947. She became a farmer's wife, an expert milker, a seasoned operator of farm machinery, a pretty good mechanic, a school bus driver for Wayne Highlands, a volunteer for the Damascus Ambulance Corps and Damascus Historical Society, sang duets with her sister, Mary Dutton, and was active at Damascus Baptist Church and later the Calkins Baptist Church. She was a loving, selfless example for her children and family, a caregiver for family members who needed her. For many years she served as a hospice volunteer with Wayne Memorial Hospital. She actively served her Lord and was an encouragement to everyone around her. Her favorite quote heard almost daily was the following: "This is the day which the Lord hath made! We will rejoice and be glad in it." In the last years of her life, she especially enjoyed listening to her dearly loved hymns and found great comfort in them, as did her daughters who enjoyed them with her.
A celebration of her life has been planned by her family on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM for the service and at 12:00 PM to share a meal and memories at the Calkins Baptist Church, 527 Calkins Road, Milanville, PA, 18443.
Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main St Honesdale, Pa 18431
