Margaret C. Dykhuizen Obituary

Margaret C. Dykhuizen, 96, of Lockport, NY and formerly of Honesdale passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Niagra Hospice House, Lockport, NY.


Born May 31, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA she was a daughter of the late Lambert and Margaret (Zuidema) VanEerden.


She attended Sterling College in Sterling, KS.


Margaret was a member of the Calkins Baptist Church and for many years was an organist at The First Baptist Church and the Gospel Tabernacle both of Honesdale.


She was preceded in death by her husband James Henry Dykhuizen, who passed away June 2, 2012. Surviving are: five children, Dale Dykhuizen and wife Renee, Marva Dykhuizen, Gwen and Van Silka, Margaret and Michael Robertson, and Nancy and Jack Olson, nine grandchildren, Brandy Dykhuizen and Konstantin Bobkov, Brian Silka, Matthew Silka, Chloe Robertson, Gordon Robertson, Alexander and Madelyn Olson, Timothy Olson, Nathan Olson, and Benjamin Olson; a great-granddaughter Freya Bobkov, and a sister Lois VanEerden.


She was preceded in death by a brother Lambert VanEerden and his wife Sara and a sister Ruth McCalmont and her husband Dave.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Calkins Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11:30AM with Pastor Lane Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Girdland Cemetery at 2:00 PM


Memorial contributions may made to the Calkins Baptist Church, 527 Calkins Rd., Milanville, PA 18443.


Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main St., Honesdale.
