Harriet Elizabeth Smith Obituary

Harriet Elizabeth Smith, 82, formerly of Cherry Ridge and Maple City Apartments and most recently a resident at Ellen Memorial Nursing Home passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband Matthew McConnell and also her second husband Arthur John Smith.

Born June 21, 1942 in Lookout, she was a daughter of the late George Young and the late Irene (Robinson) Young Lowe. She was a graduate of the Hancock Central School and worked as a seamstress in local garment factories including Katz's, Waymart Knit Wear the factory in White Mills and Fun Time Factory. After leaving Fun Time factory she worked at Spojnia Manor in Waymart until retirement.

Surviving are three children, Teresa (McConnell) Supinski and her husband Jeffrey of Lake Ariel, Brian McConnell and his wife Gina and Christopher McConnell and his wife Sara all of Honesdale; two stepchildren, Blaine Smith of Binghamton, NY and Kelly M. Smith of Trinidad, CO; 2 grandchildren, Trent and Lucas; 5 great grandchildren, two sisters Janet Baker and Florence Peck; a brother Raymond Young; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Judy Lefferts, Irene Bachota, Melvin Young, and Marie Young.

As per her request private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
