Arloe Russell Gager, a life long resident of Cold Springs, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born April 24, 1917 in Cold Springs, Pa he was the son of Daisy and Russell Gager also of Cold Springs.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice M. (Stooky) Gager, they were married for 77 years. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Gager and Edwin Gager.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan (Gager) Dougher and husband William who reside in White Mills and his son, Donald Gager and wife Ruth who reside in Georgia.
His surviving grandchildren are Harmony Dougher and Robert Dougher of White Mills, Russell Gager of Georgia, Tammy (Gager) Carlisle of Georgia, Michelle (Gager) Baudoin of Texas, Randy Gager of California, Deborah (Gager) Peters of Mississippi, and Lucky Gager of Cold Springs. Finally also surviving are nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Arloe owned a farm in Cold Springs for many years where he owned and operated a milk run, a logging business, and a sign foreman at PennDot. He retired from Fowler Oil Company where he was a service repairman. In the later years of his life he had the chance to become involved with the Cold Springs Chapel. He was a trusted friend and a faithful member. Several years ago the congregation presented him with an honorary plaque on his pew that designated him as the oldest and most respected member.
Arloe loved his cats, trout fishing, Sunday family dinners, and his garden. The best days of his life were spent with his children and grandchildren and the more kids in the house the better. He was a great man, a wonderful father and grandfather and the chain will be broken with him gone.
Friends and family may call at the Cold Springs Chapel on Saturday, August 11, 2012 between the hours of 11:00 and 12:00 AM followed by a memorial service which will be held at 12:00 until 1:00 PM
