William Roman, 88, of South Canaan, PA, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, the former Dolores I. Turouski. The couple was married on August 21, 1948. Born on April 3, 1924 in Olyphant, PA, he was the son of the late Onufer Roman and Mary Prokipchak Roman. He served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps from October of 1942 to October of 1945. William served in the 9th Air Corp and was gave his service in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Ardennes. He was bestowed the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal before his Honorable Discharge. William was a 47 year member of the VFW Post 889 in Waymart. William retired from several years of service at the Waymart Knitwear. He is also survived by two sons: William C. Roman Jr., and John A. Roman, both of South Canaan. Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A.
