As a high school teacher, she valued the education of her students; Betty loved teaching and undertook being the Advisor for the Year Book for many years at Warsaw Central. Upon retirement she returned to Beach Lake to live with and care for her mother. Betty was a very caring and giving person. Betty enjoyed traveling and did so quite extensively throughout her lifetime. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest extent in her chosen lifestyle. Dearest to her heart was the Beach Lake United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member and very faithful in fulfilling her offices and positions held over the years. Key phrases that come to mind in describing Betty's membership in DKG is her devotion that was given to the Society and the great portion of her time, talents and guidance given both to new members and older members. She was the epitome of a DKG member both in being a mentor, friend, and guardian of all the Society held dear to herself. She was also a very avid and active member of the Beach Lake Fire Company Auxiliary; she worked very hard to make sure their fund raisers were successful. Her membership in the Tusten Senior Citizens spanned many years in which she helped with their luncheons, played cards, helped with activities, and for several years wrote a column in the River Reporter about the group's meetings and activities. She was a member of the Wayne County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for 27 years in the business office of Wayne Memorial Hospital. Added to her many interests in life she also enjoyed fishing in her younger years, remained an avid sports fan throughout her lifetime, a very competitive card player, enjoyed antiquing, holiday decorating, crocheting, Knitting, sewing and other handcrafts, her hand crafted entries in the Wayne County Fair over the years took many Blue Ribbons. She lived a very full, interesting and satisfying life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we can take joy in knowing she laid aside all of her earthly tasks and concerns, as she stepped into the presence of her Lord and heard "Well done my good and faithful servant".
